Effective May 23, 2026
Peek is built on the opposite of a feed. The room exists only while you're in it, and the people in it are only the people physically next to you. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we don't.
1 · What we collect
Account information you provide: the name or handle you choose to display, your profile photo, a phone number for verification, and any optional information you add to your profile (single status, interests, recent venues).
Location signals — a combination of GPS, Wi-Fi network identifier, and Bluetooth proximity — used solely to confirm you are physically inside a participating venue before you can join its room. We do not continuously log your location after you leave the venue, and we do not share precise location with other guests in the room.
Message content you write in venue rooms, in one-on-one chats with friends, and in the Peek game flow. Venue-room messages are ephemeral (see Retention below).
Redemption events when you tap a comp or send a drink — necessary to attribute the campaign to the venue's point-of-sale ticket and to bill the funding brand.
Device and diagnostic information your phone reports to us so the app works correctly: OS version, app version, error reports.
2 · Why we use it
- To gate venue rooms to only people physically in the room.
- To match your profile to the people you peek and to surface the right venue chat at the right time.
- To run the peek-game mechanic (sending notifications to the people you peek, scoring guesses).
- To attribute brand-funded comps and drink-sends to point-of-sale tickets so brands and venues can reconcile.
- To detect and respond to abuse, harassment, impersonation, and other Community Guidelines violations.
- To send you transactional notifications about rooms you've entered.
3 · What we share
Other guests in your room see your chosen name, your profile photo, and your activity within that room. They do not see your phone number, your precise location, your friends, or your activity in other rooms.
Venues see aggregate room activity (people in the room, redemption counts, broadcast read rates). Venues do not see private one-on-one messages, do not see other guests' profiles unless explicitly granted, and cannot read what guests say to each other in the room.
Brands see aggregate, anonymized redemption data tied to their campaigns — counts, venue-level totals, time-of-day patterns. Brands do not see individual user identities, contact information, or any data outside of their own campaigns.
Service providers (cloud hosting, payments processing, SMS verification) receive only the minimum data needed to perform their service, under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not run third-party advertising or behavioral tracking inside Peek.
4 · How long we keep it
Venue-room messages are ephemeral — they exist only while the room is open and are permanently deleted within 24 hours of the room closing (your local last call).
One-on-one messages with friends are retained as long as both parties keep the conversation open. Either party can delete the thread at any time.
Account information is retained while your account is active. Delete your account from Settings and we'll remove your profile within 30 days.
Redemption and comp ledger entries are retained for up to seven years to satisfy distributor reconciliation, tax, and audit requirements. These records are linked to a venue + POS ticket, not to your personally identifying information after 90 days.
5 · Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your account data from Settings, or by emailing the contact below. We honor requests under the GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and other applicable regimes.
You can turn off all marketing communications from your notification settings. Transactional notifications (room you're in, safety alerts) cannot be turned off while the related feature is in use.
6 · Children
Peek is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. For rooms hosted at venues that serve alcohol, the minimum age is 21 in the United States and the local legal drinking age elsewhere. Venues hosting age-restricted rooms must verify guest age at the door.
7 · International transfers
Peek is operated from the United States. By using the app, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in the United States and in any other country where our service providers operate. Standard contractual clauses and other lawful mechanisms are used where required.
8 · Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change. Material changes will be communicated in-app and via email at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Effective" date at the top reflects the most recent version.
